Salutations de Colombie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The LATAM&#8217;s Technological Sector Review<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dimitri :<\/strong> I&#8217;m very happy to have you with us. With this level of experience, today we&#8217;ll discuss the evaluation of video surveillance and artificial intelligence in Colombia and Latin America, and their key role in security, digital transformation, and business competitiveness in the region. Get ready for a deep, current, and strategically relevant conversation. Let&#8217;s begin. To better understand the global panorama, I&#8217;d like to know, Ricardo, which technological sectors are currently experiencing the fastest expansion in Colombia, and how do they compare with those in other Latin American countries in its surroundings?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ricardo Calder\u00f3n :<\/strong> Well, excellent question. Currently, in Colombia, there&#8217;s a great demand for electronic surveillance and electronic security services, especially in the service sector, represented by hotels, gastronomy, and bars. Similarly, the office sector, residential buildings, houses, and residential complexes are also seeing high demand. Why? Because, unfortunately, in Colombia, we&#8217;re having a big security problem. The rise of criminality has grown a lot. The topic of Smart Cities, the security of cities, departments, and territorial entities, also has a great demand, but we haven&#8217;t done absolutely anything. Why? Because we haven&#8217;t mapped our insecurity zones, so to speak. There isn&#8217;t enough police force, enough material, or enough people to cover the entire territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we compare this situation with the rest of Latin America, I&#8217;ve always said we have small groups. For example, we have the Andean zone, what we call Colombia, Ecuador, Peru. Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, unfortunately, along with Venezuela, is a totally different country. Here we have serious problems in terms of security due to transnational criminal gangs. I don&#8217;t know if you&#8217;ve seen the news about the famous Tren de Aragua, which is a transnational gang involved in everything from drug trafficking to human trafficking. All the crimes you can imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s also the Southern Cone, which includes Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. They also face the same problems. They also face the Tren de Aragua, but they do have more developed and structured solutions for video surveillance, and also more budget, more money, because their economies are much stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have Brazil, the great giant of LATAM. It&#8217;s the seventh-largest economy in the world, according to the USD, and it has many security problems due to social inequality. If you look at the Gini index, which measures a country&#8217;s inequality, Brazil is among the worst, even though it&#8217;s the seventh-largest economy in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&#039;Am\u00e9rique centrale, \u00e0 l&#039;exception du Nicaragua, est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement dot\u00e9e de gouvernements tr\u00e8s d\u00e9mocratiques. L\u00e0 encore, ces pays sont confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 li\u00e9s aux gangs criminels, mais ils ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 des structures de surveillance plus strictes. Parmi ces \u00e9conomies, les plus s\u00fbres en termes de surveillance et aussi sur le plan \u00e9conomique, car tout est directement li\u00e9, sont le Costa Rica et le Salvador. Passant du statut de pays le plus dangereux d&#039;Am\u00e9rique latine au statut de pays le plus s\u00fbr, ce pays a actuellement g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 d&#039;importants investissements \u00e9conomiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Et puis, bien s\u00fbr, nous avons le Mexique, premier partenaire commercial des \u00c9tats-Unis. Malheureusement, et heureusement pour lui \u00e9conomiquement, il partage une fronti\u00e8re avec les \u00c9tats-Unis. Mais il est confront\u00e9 \u00e0 un probl\u00e8me majeur avec la commercialisation du fentanyl, import\u00e9 des \u00c9tats-Unis. Malheureusement, l&#039;int\u00e9r\u00eat pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 a diminu\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, we have a small group: Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua. So, that&#8217;s more or less the panorama of the entire region and Colombia with respect to security and video surveillance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Situation s\u00e9curitaire en Colombie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alexandre :<\/strong> Tr\u00e8s bien, merci beaucoup. Autre question\u00a0: malgr\u00e9 toutes ces difficult\u00e9s auxquelles la r\u00e9gion, enfin, toute la r\u00e9gion latine, est-ce que, selon vous, la technologie de vid\u00e9osurveillance a \u00e9volu\u00e9\u00a0? Dans quel domaine\u00a0? Et si c\u2019est gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cela, qu\u2019en pensez-vous\u00a0?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ricardo Calder\u00f3n :<\/strong> Yes, absolutely, video surveillance has evolved impressively. Why? Because, thankfully, globalization has allowed economies to start interacting through international trade. And that has led international players, large companies, to establish themselves in these territories. This has forced video surveillance and private security to improve, to update, to stay updated. But these major developments are almost indisputably driven by private companies, by the private sector as a whole. The government sector, again, with some honorable exceptions, such as the government of Buenos Aires, which is a city with great video surveillance development due to the Smart City initiative. Unfortunately, these Latin governments, when they think about security, they think about increasing the number of police, increasing the number of men, buying more motorcycles, buying more vehicles. But they don&#8217;t yet see video surveillance as something that can be a strategic ally to improve the security of the regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alexandre :<\/strong> Droite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ricardo Calder\u00f3n :<\/strong> But we&#8217;ve improved a lot, though we still have a long way to go. And look, I&#8217;ll tell you something: regarding internet connectivity, we&#8217;re in the main cities. For example, here in Colombia. I can tell you that even though in the cities we have almost 100% coverage, the connectivity isn&#8217;t entirely good. And that&#8217;s despite having major players like Telef\u00f3nica, Movistar, Claro, and the Millicom group through Tigo. So, there are still many barriers to overcome, you know? But Latin America is an excellent market. It&#8217;s a growing market where I think and believe that video surveillance, especially that based on AI, has an excellent, immense market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IA et vid\u00e9osurveillance en Am\u00e9rique latine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dimitri :<\/strong> Vous avez \u00e9voqu\u00e9 la couverture m\u00e9diatique en Am\u00e9rique latine. Existe-t-il d&#039;autres d\u00e9fis et opportunit\u00e9s r\u00e9gionaux sp\u00e9cifiques qui influencent la croissance du secteur de la vid\u00e9osurveillance en Am\u00e9rique latine\u00a0?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ricardo Calder\u00f3n :<\/strong> Yes, of course, absolutely. Look, while it&#8217;s true that criminality. Well, let&#8217;s say large criminal groups have large budgets due to their illicit business revenues is the great opportunity we have is precisely to counteract them, and definitely video surveillance, especially those tools for facial recognition, the issue of, for example, lost objects, the ability to communicate, to interconnect all security cameras, man, that is, let&#8217;s say, the great opportunity in the world, okay? In Latin America, Latin America is growing, but everything is yet to be done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve done some things through the security multinationals themselves, like G4S, Prosegur, BRS, Securitas. Of course, these are large companies that have budget and bring technology. But the security companies themselves \u2014 and I&#8217;ll always talk about security companies because they&#8217;ve been a great driving force for video surveillance \u2014 are bringing in technology from outside precisely to be able to address all the challenges the region faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dimitri :<\/strong> Concernant la technologie de vid\u00e9osurveillance cloud en particulier, la surveillance cloud est-elle populaire en Colombie\u00a0? Comment voyez-vous ses perspectives pour les entreprises colombiennes\u00a0? Et quels sont les principaux freins au d\u00e9veloppement de cette technologie\u00a0?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ricardo Calder\u00f3n :<\/strong> Yes, well, honestly, it&#8217;s not that popular. Why? Because of the accessibility to the service. Only large multinational firms use this technology. They have the funds and staff. I worked at Telef\u00f3nica Movistar for two years. We offered cloud security to big businesses. These services did not sell well. Money, knowledge, and preparation were often lacking. The biggest hurdle now is not money. It&#8217;s finding skilled workers. We need people to implement these solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facteurs communs au d\u00e9veloppement des syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 en Colombie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alexandre :<\/strong> Quelles sont les utilisations les plus courantes des syst\u00e8mes de vid\u00e9osurveillance cloud en Colombie\u00a0? Et si ces solutions sont adapt\u00e9es aux d\u00e9fis locaux, comme la criminalit\u00e9 ou la congestion urbaine au niveau B2G, comment cela se passe-t-il\u00a0?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ricardo Calder\u00f3n :<\/strong> The main applications are, again, and the end customers who can acquire this type of solution use them for their own security, right? The large industries that are monitoring their entire environment to prevent any crime by criminal gangs. But let&#8217;s talk about reality, that is, apart from those small islands. I&#8217;m talking about Colombia. I&#8217;m talking about the vast majority of Latin American countries. And again, with honorable exceptions, Buenos Aires, S\u00e3o Paulo in the case of Brazil, Bras\u00edlia, Curitiba itself, which is another city I have in mind, San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, which do have a great development of video surveillance.
